While I was in Chelan, I got to pick an apple from an apple tree in the neighbor's apple orchard. Grandma washed and polished it for me and I had fun (and frustration) trying to bite it. My favorite apples were the green Golden Delicious, but grandma wouldn't let me eat them because she was afraid I'd get a tummy ache eating a green apple. But, I did get to taste the juice, which was very tasty!

This weekend I went to visit my Grandma Jo and Grandpa Richard in Chelan. I had a great time! I played in my swimming pool (because the weather in Chelan is still in the 80's), went to lunch (at Hungry Belly) and dinner (at Local Myth Pizza), visited with Auntie Carmen, played in the bathtub, and did my usual baby thing! Grandma had a GREAT time spending lots of time with me, but, who can blame her? I am just SO adorable!

Here's a really nice picture of my mom. As you can tell, it was taken when I was MUCH younger! When I was just a baby, as a matter of fact.

I just can't resist the South Pacific! I hope my Grandma will take me to a tropical island some day!

I decided to visit the Beatles this week. I had a great time!

Here is grandma's first pattern! Sun, Moon and Stars!. It measures 16 x 35" and is done with fusible web. It is based on a quilt she made for me! She knows I am very special!

Here, with much fanfare (ta-dah!) is grandma's second pattern. This is the first in her Somewhere Beyond the Sea series. This first one contains two patterns, Shelina Seahorse and Olivia Octopus. They each are 12" x 14" and are done using fusible web. Grandma knows I love tropical fish!

These quilts are constructed somewhat differently from other quilts in that they are completely quilted before the fusible applique is applied. Grandma has found that it is MUCH easier to do intricate quilting if you don't have to worry about going around small applique pieces. Of course, this would only work on smallish wall hangings - probably not so much on larger ones or bed quilts.

The Road to Bali.

I'm giving some thought to becoming a wild fire fighter when I grow up, so I visited a forest fire in Eastern Washington to check it out and see if it's something I'd be interested in. I do like the possibility of easy access to s'mores!

Well, here I am in the Palouse, in Washington State. I'm thinking seriously about getting a new hat...

Now I'm in the Caribbean! Wonder where I'll appear next?!? Your guess is a good as mine...

I decided to take a trip to see the Taj Mahal. I'm quite the jet-setting baby!

Summer time - finally!

Cohen playing for the first time in his new pool at Grandma's. He is 6 months old today. Happy birthday little guy!

My favorite rose, "Alchemist". I've babied this rose along for 3 years now. When I received it (I ordered it from Canada), it was about the size of a pencil; a bare root rose. It only blooms once a year, but it is worth it!

This is a bracelet I made last night. I used silver wire, a purchased length of silver jewelry chain, mother of pearl and shell "beads" and crystals. It measures 7" long, including the clasp.

Here is a REAL closeup photo of the zipper in the quilt (photography by Richard Uhlhorn). Amazing what professional photography will do... So now you can clearly see the zipper and some of the bead work. There is a purple crystal at the center of the spiral.

I am a Snapdragon What Flower Are You?

Here is the paper template I drew as a pattern for my latest quilt. I put it on my kitchen floor to cut it out. The kitchen and dining room floors are the only ones in the house without carpet (besides bedrooms) and I didn't feel like moving the dining room table and chairs - so the kitchen, while small, will have to do!

And finally the paper template placed on the fabric so I can draw the spiral design.

And, finally, here is the finished quilt. "Rock the Casbah" measures 53x43" and is made of hand dyed African fabric (the saffron colored fabric), commercial cotton fabric (the red), purple silk organza (the purple circles) and 6 yards of black zipper. This quilt was an exercise in 1) sewing a spiral design, and 2) including a zipper in the design.

Another detail shot of the quilting and sheer silk circles. I used Sulky rayon thread for the quilting on the front and cotton thread for the bottom. The black "trim" around the spiral is the zipper.

Here is a detail shot. The purple silk organza circles are sheer. The center part of the spiral is heavily beaded with all different sizes of red beads, with a few purple and orange ones thrown in.

Oh my God! I've been "tagged" by Tomme! Now I have to post 7 random facts about myself... Humm, let's see:

1. I am currently trying to sell my house so I can move to Austin, TX (Buy my house! www.chelanfallshome.blogspot.com);

2. Due to various life circumstances, I have no sisters, no mother, no grandmother, no aunts and no daughters. However, I do have one cute little niece, a terrific daughter-in-law (thanks Ron!) and a wonderful ex-mother-in-law;

3. I can't swim, but when I went on a cruise a couple years ago, I tried snorkeling in Grand Cayman! Boy, am I hooked! It was the most exciting thing I have ever done! Loved it, loved it, loved it!;

4. I am a total neat freak;

5. Love baseball - my favorite team being the Seattle Mariners (even when they play terribly);

6. I totally remodeled the kitchen and both bathrooms in my home, doing all the work except putting in the cabinets (too heavy for me alone) and taping the drywall (I hired that done); and

7. I'm not much of a TV watcher, but I love "Ugly Betty".

Happy Valentine's Day!

Humm.... The first photo is Cohen, the second is his dad. Mere coincidence? I think not!

I got a chance to baby sit this weekend while Cohen's mom accompanied his dad to hear his dad's band play at a local nightclub. From the looks on his face, Cohen was a little bored by Grandma! He is wearing the same outfit that his dad had his photo taken in when he was almost the same age. He looks just like his dad too!

What can I say?? Too-o-o cute!

This is spuddy, the namesake of my blog. He just thought he'd drop by and say "hello"!

This is a postcard I made for the Heart 2 Heart postcard project, which collects fabric postcards to be given to the military wounded on Valentine's Day. Since they will be handed out on Valentine's Day, I chose a heart theme. The card measures 4x6". Hopefully it will add a little cheer to someone's day.

And now for something completely different...

Here I am in the Seattle Public Library, in my favorite section. This is a section of the library that houses meeting rooms. Imagine walking through these gorgeous red hallways to get to your meeting location!

Another photo of my darling grandson. If you look closely, you will see he is wearing his Beatles shirt. How cute is that? Cohen agrees with me that George was the cutest Beatle.
